Under the coordination of Sakarya University and in partnership with Kocaeli University, the "Science&Future - The Science For Stronger Societies" project, funded by Horizon Europe, organized a series of events on May 27, 2025, at 29 Ekim Middle School. Faculty members from Kocaeli University led presentations and workshops exploring utopian and dystopian urban space designs in cinema within the context of sustainable agriculture and climate change.
The second session of the event focused specifically on sustainable agriculture, presented by Professor Rezzan Kasım from the Faculty of Agriculture. Professor Kasım informed students about the urgent transition toward sustainable farming practices, driven by modern production challenges such as the overexploitation and depletion of soil, desertification, erosion, and the misuse of agricultural lands. Under the broad umbrella of agriculture, she detailed various approaches including organic, bio-dynamic, and natural farming, as well as permaculture and precision agriculture. Furthermore, she highlighted the importance of good agricultural practices and traditional methods that prioritize the protection of natural resources through the use of local assets and heirloom seeds.
