Researchers at Şehit Onbaşı Adem Başoğlu Middle School

The event began with an informative presentation on the European Union and the project details by Sustainability Office Coordinator Prof. Dr. Sevil Veli and Prof. Dr. Beyhan Pekey. Following the introduction, Associate Professor Canan Cimşit discussed renewable energy sources and technologies, leading an applied activity with students from Şehit Onbaşı Adem Başoğlu Middle School using renewable energy experiment kits. During the session, students learned about which energy sources are nearing depletion, the impact of these vanishing resources on climate change, and the various renewable alternatives available. The workshop concluded with hands-on experiments where students explored solar and wind energy, gaining a practical understanding of energy conservation, transfer, and the conversion of energy from one form to another.

The program continued with a presentation by Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Çağlayan on "Climate Change and Its Effects on Health," accompanied by an educational video to deepen the students' understanding. Following the talk, Prof. Dr. Çağlayan and Research Assistant Özge Arslan conducted a waste management activity. The session wrapped up with a Q&A segment, where students had the opportunity to ask questions about the environmental and health-related challenges discussed throughout the day.
