Under the coordination of Sakarya University and in partnership with Kocaeli University, Düzce University, and the Sakarya Governorship, the fifth "Researchers at School" event was held at Barbaros Imam Hatip Middle School with the participation of one hundred students. This initiative is part of the "Science & Future – The Science For Stronger Societies" Horizon Europe project, which also includes stakeholders such as the Düzce Governorship, the Kocaeli Provincial Directorate of National Education, and VakıfBank.
The event, aimed at increasing the awareness and consciousness levels of primary and secondary school students regarding climate change, natural disasters, and resilient cities, was carried out with the contributions of academics from Kocaeli University. The opening speech was delivered by the Sustainability Office Coordinator, Prof. Dr. Sevil Veli. During the program, Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Çağlayan from the Faculty of Medicine and Associate Professor Canan Cimşit from the Gölcük Vocational School conducted various presentations and workshops. Prof. Dr. Beyhan Pekey, the Chair of the Climate Action and Clean Water Sanitation Commission of the Sustainability Office, was also in attendance to support the activities.
